Medspas: The New Fountain of Youth
(Scottsdale, AZ - December, 01, 2004) The numbers of Americans 55 and over currently make up 51% of the U.S. population. These ''baby boomers'', born between 1946 and 1964 are the most affluent group of Americans today and their buying power is estimated to exceed $2 trillion by 2007. Not ready to throw in the towel and sit on the sidelines, baby boomers are leading active, vibrant lives and striving for ways to stay fit, healthy and look better as they age.
Their battle against the affects of aging has opened the door to a new ''youth'' market, as evidenced by the vast sales of anti-aging lotions and skin creams, exercise and weight loss books, cosmetics and hair coloring and vitamins and supplements. Their search for the fountain of youth has also resulted in the increase of preventative and non-surgical treatments such as facials, hair removal, facial peels, dermabrasion and the use of products like Botox®, Collagen®, and Restylane® to make them look as youthful as they feel. According to a recent poll from USA Today, Americans spent $8.4 billion dollars in 2003 on cosmetic plastic surgeries and over $1 billion on Botox injections last year alone.
Medical Spas or ''Medspas'' are one of the newest and most rapidly growing industries that concentrate specifically on rejuvenating skin treatments. Medspas are licensed medical outpatient facilities where medicine is integrated with alternative, non-surgical skin therapies to produce results that meet each individual's goals, while being pampered in a tranquil, spa-like environment.
One of the newest Medspas to enter the market place is Radiance Medspas, which began opening in major markets across the United States this fall. Radiance Medspas has differentiated itself from many of the other Medspas in that they take the utmost care in training, utilize only the most skilled medical clinicians and use the highest quality of products available to ensure that they meet the goals of their clientele.
Each Radiance Medspa facility is staffed by doctors and clinicians who have been trained at Radiance Clinical University by Dr. Shelly A. Friedman, a Board Certified Dermatologist and Chief Medical Officer of Radiance Medspas.
As they strive to provide the highest quality of service and care, Radiance Medspa has aligned themselves with many of today's leaders in the non-surgical skin treatment category such as:
- Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc., the leader in light-based technologies for permanent hair reduction and removal, photofacials and treatment of skin problems like Rosasea, acne, age or sunspots.
- Allergan, Inc., maker of BOTOX®, which has become the number one non-surgical procedure with 42% of the market.
- Medicis®, the maker of Restylane® a dermal filler that is used to provide long-lasting natural enhancement.
- Physicians Choice of Arizona, which produces The PCA Peel®, which is used to exfoliate and give the skin a fresher appearance.
With nearly 78% of the 8.3 million cosmetic surgeries performed in 2003 being non-surgical procedures, we can clearly see that there is a place for Radiance Medspas in the market.
As 12,000 Americans turn 50 each day and with the rate of non-invasive procedures climbing each year, we anticipate seeing even more treatments and products enter the marketplace, and Radiance Medspas will be there with the best the industry has to offer.
