ANDY ONCALL CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF SERVICE
Andy OnCall, a nationally franchised handyman repair service based in Chattanooga, Tenn., is celebrating 15 years of tackling homeowners' small jobs, repairs and maintenance.
Tom Harris founded Andy OnCall in 1993 to provide handyman services to households in Chattanooga. As a general contractor, Mr. Harris was constantly receiving repair requests, and he envisioned a system for contracting, tracking and billing for the work. What began as a means for Mr. Harris to have more freedom and flexibility in his job, conceived a business that offers homeowners the ability to call one number for almost any job they need done - from carpentry to painting, from plumbing to electrical work.
Mr. Harris emphasizes that Andy OnCall uses dedicated, qualified craftsmen to perform services for homeowners in a timely and efficient manner. ''Each of our craftsmen has more than 10 years experience, and we provide a one-year written warranty on every job.''
In 1999, Andy OnCall began franchising stores across the nation. Presently, there are 59 Andy OnCall franchises in 21 states. Andy OnCall was ranked as a Top 500 Franchise in the January 2008 edition of Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 magazine. The company was also featured on a segment of Lifetime's national daily morning show, ''The Balancing Act''.
Much of Andy OnCall's success is due to it being a family-owned small business with roots in Chattanooga, according to Mr. Harris.
''Chattanooga is a very entrepreneurial city. A multitude of nationally recognized businesses are based here. It is what intrigued me most about moving here and starting a business. I am very fortunate and blessed to be able to live and work here.''
