This long established company specialises in 100% wholesale supply of fresh white fish to the wholesale market. Processing and supplying for around 23 years, during that time it has developed an outstanding reputation for the freshness and quality of the fish supplied.
This excellent opportunity is well located in leasehold premises on the banks of a river in North Devon. The location is perfect with easy access to the sea allowing boats to land their catch directly at their own fish dock. The fish is taken from the Bristol Channel in an area stretching from Padstow to Ilfracombe from fully sustainable fishing stock, and as a secondary supplier, the company works also with the supermarkets in ensuring supplies are sustainable.
The company has dealt with the same fishing boats for the last 20 years, taking delivery of the product and acting as broker by selling the produce to wholesale fish merchants, the company then remits payment to the fishermen, less a 25% commission.
After landing, the fish is graded, processed and packed for despatch. Processing involves in-house skinning, filleting and packing and ensures better control of the freshness and quality of the product that is sold to customers. All locally caught fish is processed although the primary products are skate and ray wing as this company is the only specialist processor in North Devon to deal with this product.
Deliveries are made in the company's own trucks to destinations ranging from Kent to Manchester in the UK and to Spain, Italy & France.
